Important Information Before, During, and After Placing Your Order

Before placing your order

  1. Guest Count Planning: Please consider in advance how many people your cake or cupcake order is intended for. This is important for proper planning.

  2. Intolerances and Allergies: If you or your guests have any specific intolerances or allergies, please let me know. However, please note that in the case of severe food intolerances, I may have to decline your order, as I cannot guarantee a 100% contaminant-free preparation in my small kitchen.

During the ordering process

Changes: I understand that changes in design or flavor may arise. Please be aware that changes can only be made up to three days before the pickup or delivery of your order. Personalized elements that have been pre-ordered (such as toppers or edible images) cannot be canceled and will be charged accordingly.

After placing your order

Disclaimer: If there is any aspect of your order that you are unhappy with, please inform me on-site so that we can make adjustments together. Once you have accepted the cake, no further changes can be made.

Transportation

  • By Foot: I strongly advise against picking up your cake by foot. A cake can quickly weigh several kilograms, and transportation can be heavy. Additionally, you and the cake will be exposed to weather conditions, which is unfavorable in hot or rainy weather. If there is no other option, hold the cake box flat from the bottom with both hands. Do not touch the sides of the cake box, as the packaging is not sufficiently sturdy and could damage the cake.

  • Public Transportation: I also discourage this method ☺

  • By Car: Ideally, place the cake in the footwell of the passenger seat, adjust the ventilation and/or air conditioning, and secure the cake gently with the seat. If the cake is too large for the passenger seat, try transporting it in the trunk. Ensure that the cake cannot slide around. Even with careful driving, the cake can be damaged otherwise. When you pick up the cake, I will be happy to assist you in safely storing it in your car.

For longer journeys, it is recommended to set the floor ventilation to the highest (coldest) setting to keep the cake or cupcakes cool. Never leave the baked goods in a closed car exposed to direct sunlight.

Storage

Cakes and cupcakes can be stored in the refrigerator for 1 to 2 days without any issues. If the cake is particularly tall, it is advisable to remove a shelf from the refrigerator to create enough space.  It is also important to note that strongly aromatic open foods such as onions, cheese, or cold cuts can transfer their flavors to the baked goods. To avoid this, it is recommended to remove such foods in advance. If this is not possible, the strongly aromatic foods can be carefully wrapped in plastic wrap and placed in airtight containers to contain the smells.

Presentation

A significant amount of butter is used in all my baking goods, which becomes firm and hard at cooler temperatures. To fully enjoy the pastries, it is important to temper them before consumption. For optimal tempering, I recommend the following guidelines:

  • Cupcakes: Let the cupcakes sit at room temperature for approximately 30 minutes before enjoying them.

  • Cakes: Let cakes sit at room temperature for approximately 1.5 to 2 hours before serving depending on size of the cake.

  • Multi-tiered cakes: Let multi-tiered cakes sit at room temperature for at least 2 or more hours before serving.

Ensure that the cake or cupcakes are not exposed to direct sunlight, as the buttercream and decorations may melt.

Cake Cutting

Before cutting into your cake, please remove any non-edible decorations such as flowers, candles, or toppers. After removing all non-edible parts, I recommend cutting the cake as follows:

  1. Run a knife (a bread/serrated knife is best) under hot water and thoroughly dry it.

  2. Cut the cake using a gentle sawing motion to achieve even slices.

To assist with cutting 15cm or 20cm cakes, you can use a cake cutting guide available here:

By following these steps, you will have evenly sliced pieces and the cake will maintain its stability, making storage easier.

Note: Proper storage of your baked goods can ensure their freshness and quality over an extended period.
